Search and Rescue Group Takes Advantage of the Method

by Clinton Anderson 14. August 2012 00:03

When Clinton learned that the San Mateo County Mounted Search and Rescue unit uses the Method to train their horses, he decided to hold a private training session with the group, helping them fine-tune their application of the Method. The training session was filmed for an upcoming television episode that will likely air in 2013. The California search and rescue unit is made up of volunteers who work closely with the sheriff’s office and other agencies to aid in searches for missing persons. Horses are often valued in search and rescue missions because their highly developed sense of hearing, sight and smell allows them to locate a victim before human search personnel are able to do so. While the majority of the San Mateo County Mounted Search and Rescue unit’s work is done in the county, they have been called on searches as far away as the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Learn more about the group on their website.
