hackamore convert

I had started lots of colts in my old lope rope hackamore but my wife decided that I needed a new one and bought me Clinton’s Down Under hackamore. Well now I like it better than the one that I had called ol’ faithful. The stiff rope on this noseband really has helped in keeping my colts light from the very beginning because they aren’t too keen on leaning into it. I also like the loops under the bottom of the noseband that let me attach a lead rope and do some groundwork with it before stepping on. The reins are plenty long to use as a spanker when I’m having trouble getting a colt to move out. Everything is of good quality and I would recommend this hackamore to anyone ready to start a colt.

I was given a new colt earlier this year by my husband, he is totally green so I knew I needed some help! I was reluctant to use a hackamore in the past, because I never really knew if I was using it correctly. When I called in to order the Starting Under Saddle series, Clint (a sales associate at DUH) suggested I also go ahead and get the hackamore because Clinton uses it in that series. I sure am glad I did!! The hackamore was an easy transition for my colt. Within about a dozen rides he was ready to move to a snaffle, and he was so light!! I know it's because the hackamore simplified what I was asking him to do, simply flex when I pulled. Ive been riding him for about a month, following the Starting Under Saddle Series. Because it worked out so well for me, I went ahead and also bought the fundamentals series from Clint today to use with my colt, and all of our other horses. I cant wait to re-start my other horses that already have some bad habits. Thank you Clinton, and the whole team at Downunder for helping me with my horses. Im actually looking forward to trail riding this summer, instead of knowing its going to be a constant battle at every turn! Every time one of my riding buddies see my new colt they want to buy him, because of how soft, quiet, and relaxed he is. Big diffrence from when I first brought him home and it took three people to lead him to the barn!!
Aussie Hackamore

Awsome! I love it. I have started many many horses over the years of various breeds. Never bitless. BUT, after learning and applying the method to my years of training AND starting bitless , with aussie hackamore was nothing less than awesome. I still ride my two spanish mustangs exclusively with the aussie hack. My daughter now uses it on both her horses who were started by someone else with bits and they handle so NICE. She loves it too. So, I will have to purchase another one for her horses.
