Success Stories
My name is Jerry, I am 30 years old. I have been involved with horses my entire life. As early as I can remember my grandfather had me doing anything with horses from riding, to pulling a buggy, grand entries, parades, trail rides and all sorts of other things.
One day when I was 15, my grandfather was riding his horse and buggy to my aunts house on the main road in Louisiana. An old man driving up behind him in a minivan could barely see and thought that my grandfather was a vehicle. Unfortunately the van hit my grandfather in his horse and buggy sending him in the air about 40 feet landing on his head. The horse was killed and my grandfather was in ICU for months. He came out with closed head injuries, metal plate for a skull, blind in one eye, recovering broken bones, total amnesia and worst of all the mind of a 3-year-old. He had no recollection of any family member and this was devastating to me at 15 years old.
I completely shut out my involvement with horses and lost touch with my horse that I had at the time. I allowed my aunt to take Chemo (my horse) and she pastured him, riding him occasionally for about 14 years. It wasn't until about 2 years ago that I got a wild hair to go to Louisiana to pick Chemo up and bring him back to Texas. I slowly started getting back into the horse thing again.
I spoke to some old friends of mine from high school that do a lot of riding and she encouraged me to watch some of Clinton's tapes to get back in the groove of things. I watched a couple and became extremely interested in his techniques. Each and everytime I would work with Chemo I would incorporate the lessons that I have been learning on his tapes. Before I knew it, my horse, which I thought my grandfather had trained to perfection, just became even more perfect. Chemo is now 18 years old and is beginning to look a little rough with age. So, I have taken a bigger look at things and have decided to begin doing this on a more full time aspect.
Training other horses using Clinton's techniques has become a great passion of mine. I have had success with every horse that I have worked with since I watched his tapes. I will be attending several clinics to only get better. I guess to say my biggest success has been the ability to get back into the world of horses since my grandfather's injury. I hope this story reaches Clinton Anderson, I want him to know the massive amounts of respect and appreciation I have for him and his studies. I am looking forward to the day that I get to meet Clinton and shake his hand. Without his help I don't beleive I would be where I am today.
Thank you.
Jerry
