Saddle Up for the Last Dirt-Road Training Ride

030326_02

In the final installment of the Dirt-Road Training Series, Professional Clinician Diego Gaona climbs aboard his colt, Ten, for one last ride.

The session is all about continuing to build Ten’s foundation, sharing the details that make a well-trained horse. Diego fine-tunes the exercises he’s taught the colt throughout the series, sharpening Ten’s responsiveness, reinforcing softness and making sure the colt stays mentally connected from start to finish.

He also introduces Ten to crossing gullies, teaching the colt to take his time and think his way through negotiating the challenge.

If you’ve followed Ten’s journey, you’ll see just how far he’s come from being worried about being ridden outside the arena to loping down the dirt road and all over the ranch with confidence. This final ride reinforces what it takes to build a solid, dependable partner—one thoughtful step at a time.
