Starting the Method? Put This Success Tip Into Action

One of the top tips Clinton gives horsemen new to the Method, ready to teach their horses the Fundamentals groundwork and riding exercises, is to record yourself practicing the exercises.

“When you watch yourself practicing an exercise, you’ll be amazed at what you catch yourself doing. You might think that you’re following every step perfectly, but more than likely, you’ll find that you’re not quite doing a step correctly, which is causing confusion on your horse’s part,” Clinton says.

After watching yourself doing the exercise, compare it to the training video. “It makes all the difference. Remember that no one learns perfectly, so don’t get frustrated if you don’t get the hang of a particular exercise the first time you attempt it. The more you practice, the better you’ll get,” Clinton says.
